What Do Working Groups Do?

The duties and responsibilities of the Working Groups are defined in the Terms of Reference for ETIP HYDROPOWER. Their activities include:

Drafting concise white papers with clear and accessible messages to raise awareness among decision-makers and the wider public
Identifying and prioritising key hydropower research and innovation needs
Preparing technical statements and position reports
Supporting the strategic actions of the ETIP Secretariat and Chairing Team
Contributing to updates of the RIA and SIR

Through these activities, the Working Groups ensure that ETIP HYDROPOWER remains technically robust, policy-relevant and aligned with European priorities.

Current Working Groups

In 2024, the ETIP HYDROPOWER Governing Board established four initial Working Groups:

Hydropower’s Role in Flexibility and Storage

WG-1

Hydropower and Biodiversity

WG-2

Hydropower and Climate Change (Adaptation and Mitigation)

WG-3

Hydropower Cluster. European Hydropower R&I Projects

(Horizon projects – follow-up and results dissemination)

These groups reflect the strategic areas where hydropower innovation and policy engagement are most critical.

How to Join a Working Group

Membership of the Working Groups is voluntary and open to interested stakeholders.
